Patricia Macke

Former Hastings resident, Patricia Joyce Macke, 71, passed away Friday, February 18, 2011 at Christian Homes in Holdrege, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Monday, February 21, 2011; 7:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, February 22, 2011; 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. Burial will be Tuesday, February 22, 2011; 3:00 P.M. in North Platte Cemetery, North Platte, Nebraska. Visitation will be Sunday, February 20, 2011; 5:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M., and Monday, February 21, 2011; 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be given to the Patricia J. Macke Memorial Fund, c/o Marg Noecker, 717 S. Wabash Avenue, Hastings, Nebraska 68901.

Patricia was born April 8, 1939 in North Platte, Nebraska to Frank & Irene (Rosenblad) Macke. She graduated in 1957 from St. Patrick's Catholic High School in North Platte, Nebraska. She attended Mount Marty College from 1957 through 1959. She began her teaching career at St. Bernard's Catholic School in Omaha, Nebraska and worked there from 1959 until 1963. In 1963, she moved to Colorado Springs where she taught at Pauline Memorial Catholic School until 1971. In 1971, Patricia returned to Nebraska to be closer to her aging parents. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Mount Marty College, Yankton, South Dakota in December of 1972. Patricia continued her teaching career at Clay Center Public Schools in Clay Center, Nebraska and taught there from 1973 until 2007; she retired in 2007 after 46 years of teaching. Throughout her teaching career in Omaha, Colorado Springs and Clay Center, in addition to teaching academics at the elementary level, Patricia produced and directed numerous plays and musicals, both at the elementary and high school level. She was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Hastings, Nebraska, Altar Society and Legion of Mary. She was also active in the Cursillo movement of the Catholic Church in the Lincoln Diocese.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents.
