Paul Crozier

Hastings resident, Paul Dean Crozier, 65, passed away Monday, February 14, 2011 at Bryan LGH West, Lincoln, Nebraska from complications that resulted from a fall.

Services will be held Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church in Hastings with Rev. Dr. William G. Nottage-Tacey officiating. A private family burial will be held at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings prior to the service. Visitation will be Thursday, February 17, 2011, and Friday, February 18, 2011 from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Livingston-Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials be directed to the betterment of the Salvation Army of Hastings and the Emergency Protective Service Shelter in Hastings.

Paul was born May 18, 1945 in Guide Rock, Nebraska to Walter & Augusta (Meents) Crozier. He was baptized and confirmed at United Methodist Church of Guide Rock and later joined the First Presbyterian Church of Hastings, where he served for a period as a Deacon. He graduated from Guide Rock High School in 1963 and attended Fairbury Junior College in Fairbury, Nebraska on a baseball scholarship. He dropped out after one year to tend to the family farm after his father was diagnosed with emphysema. He was later drafted into the U.S. Army where he served a two-year tour during the Vietnam War. He returned from military service to Hastings where he sought employment at Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph. He retired from the phone company in 2004 after 37 years. He married Paula Butler of Hastings in 1969, and this past year celebrated their 42nd anniversary. His proudest accomplishments in life were as a father, husband, grandfather and friend.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; and father-in-law, Donovan Butler.
