Paul O'Donnell

Rural Trumbull, Nebraska resident, Paul E. O'Donnell, 82, of 207 West 3 Rd, Giltner, Nebraska, died Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at his home.

Services will be Monday, September 29, 2008; 10:00 A.M. at Trumbull United Methodist Church with Rev. Rosalie N. Smith Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Trumbull, Nebraska. Visitation will be Saturday, September 27, 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M., Sunday, September 28, 2008; 1:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. with family present 7:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home and Monday, September 29, 2008, 1 hr. prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to Paul E. O'Donnell Memorial Fund.

Mr. O'Donnell was born December 25, 1925 at the family home in rural Hamilton County, Nebraska to Lloyd and Emma (Larson) O'Donnell. He attended country school in Hall County and graduated from Trumbull High School in 1942. He attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln for one year before joining the United States Navy. On August 10, 1948 he married Eunice Hoesch in Lincoln at Calvary EUB church. They moved to the farm 1½ miles east of Paul's birthplace in the spring of 1949, where he farmed until he retired. Paul served on the original Trumbull Volunteer Fire District Board. He served 13 years on the Trumbull School board at the time the new addition was built. He attended Trumbull United Methodist Church all of his life, becoming a member at age 12. Among different responsibilities in the church he was church treasurer for 10 years. He always sang in the choir and for many area funerals. Paul and Eunice enjoyed traveling and attending musical events. Paul and Eunice volunteered at the Plainsman Museum in Aurora. Paul was a former member of the Chorus of the Plains, the Hamilton Community Foundation Board of Directors and served on its Grants Committee.

Mr. O'Donnell was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Evelyn Thaut and Helen Mohrlang and niece, Donna Thaut.
