Pauline Boyd

Hastings resident, Pauline "Blue" Boyd, 71, died Thursday, May 16, 2013 at her home.

Burial Office will be Tuesday, May 21, 2013; 10:30 A.M. at Saint Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral, Hastings, Nebraska with Dean Catherine F. Scott officiating assisted by Father Michael Houlihan of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Closed casket visitation will be Sunday, May 19, 2013; 1:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M., Monday, May 20, 2013; 9:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Meals On Wheels or Catholic Social Services.

Blue was born on May 24, 1941 in Yazoo City, Mississippi to Gilruth & Anne (Hogue) Darrington. She attended catholic kindergarten and graduated from Yazoo City Public Schools in 1959. Blue worked at Yellowstone National Park during one summer. She graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1963 earning her degree in education; she was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. Blue taught school in Jackson, Mississippi. She met Jerry M. Boyd while he was on business with Tenneco Oil Company in Yazoo City. They were married on December 19, 1964; he preceded her in death on February 28, 2011. Blue and Jerry moved to Denver, Colorado where their three children were born, and then moved to Marietta, Georgia. In 1977, they returned to Hastings, Blue was a substitute teacher for many years. She was a member of Saint Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral, Chapter GZ, PEO, Muggers, and Lochland Country Club. Blue delivered Meals On Wheels for many years. She loved to spend time with her family, attend grandchildren's activities, gardening, and was an avid football fan. Blue was an educator, wife, mother, and grandmother.

Blue was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry Boyd; and son, Steven Boyd.
