Former Hastings resident, Phyllis M. Dirks, 85, of Prairie Winds, Doniphan, Nebraska, died Friday, March 26, 2004 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Services will be Tuesday, March 30, 2004; 2:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Richard Karohl officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Mrs. Dirks was born December 20, 1918 in Hastings, Nebraska to Louis H. & Marie Bell (Gease) Brandes. She graduated from Hastings High School and Hastings College. She taught high school English, French, German and History. She married William H. Adams and he preceded her in death on January 28, 1980. She returned to Hastings College and received her Masters Degree in German. She was a substitute teacher in the Hastings Public School system and also taught at Kenesaw High School, Kenesaw, Nebraska. She married Edward Dirks and he also preceded her death on December 13, 2000. She was a homemaker and a member of the Shrine Auxiliary and the Daughters of the Nile.
Mrs. Dirks was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, William Adams and Edward Dirks.
