Hastings resident, Phyllis C. Micek, 98, died Friday, March 2, 2012, at Good Samaritan - Hastings Village Perkins Pavilion.
Rosary will be Monday, March 5, 2012; 7:30 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, March 6, 2012; 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to St. Cecilia's Catholic Church Endowment Fund or Hastings Catholic Schools Trust. Visitation will be Monday, March 5, 2012; 1 P.M. until 9 P.M. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Phyllis C. DeMars was born September 22, 1913 in Campbell, Nebraska to Emile & Orise (Roy) DeMars. She moved to Hastings in 1921 and graduated from Hastings High School. On August 4, 1941 she married Dr. Leonard S. Micek and he preceded her in death on December 1, 1992. Phyllis was a homemaker and member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Altar Society, Saints Quilting Group and Catholic Daughters of Americas. She did volunteer work for American Red Cross, Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare Auxiliary and Catholic Social Services.
Phyllis C. Micek was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dr. Leonard S. Micek, brothers Roy DeMars and Bernard DeMars.
