Phyllis Newell

Hastings resident, Phyllis N. Newell, 82, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings.

Rosary will be Monday, July 20, 2015; 6:30 P.M. at Butler Volland Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 21, 2015; 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. Visitation is Sunday July 19, 2015 from 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M., Monday, July 20, 2015; from 9:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.

Phyllis was born August 26, 1932 in Callaway, Nebraska, to Herman & Eva (Stauffer) Miller. She graduated from Callaway High School in 1949. Phyllis married Jasper Newell on August 27, 1951. Phyllis worked in the Adams County Clerk's Office for many years and retired as the Adams County Clerk. She was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and the Altar Society. Phyllis was also a member of Square Dance Camping Clubs. She loved to play cards and collected angels. Phyllis loved spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Phyllis had a great sense of humor and was a very courageous woman.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Herman & Eva Miller and son-in-law, Charles Mullin.
