Ray Fredricks

Hastings resident Ray Fredricks, 96, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE.

Graveside Services are 1 p.m. Saturday, February 9, at Glenvil Cemetery in Glenvil with Jon Fredricks officiating. Memorials may be given to Peace Lutheran Church or Mary Lanning Healthcare. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Ray was born to John and Anne (Saathoff) Fredricks on September 18, 1922, on the family farm near Glenvil. Ray was united in marriage to Mary Rauscher on January 28, 1951, in Sutton, NE. Ray and Mary farmed near Glenvil for many years. Ray drove the school bus for Sandy Creek Schools from 1970 to 1975. Ray worked at Mary Lanning Hospital from 1975 to 1984 before retiring.

Ray and Mary wintered in Harlingen, TX until moving full time in 1997. Ray and Mary moved back to Good Samaritan Village in Hastings, NE in 2004. Ray was a volunteer, assisting at Perkins Nursing Home and The Village Assisted Living facility. Ray was a blood donor all his life, giving gallons of blood.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; son, William Ray; sister, Helen Frickey; and brother, Virgil.
