Raymond Horacek

Hastings resident Raymond L. Horacek, 83, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2022, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE.     

A private burial will take place at Fairfield Cemetery in Fairfield, Nebraska.  Private condolences may be sent to the family at www.lbvfh.com. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is serving the family.

Raymond was born July 31, 1938 in Fairfield, Nebraska to Edward R. and Sarah L. (Brubeck) Horacek. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1956. After graduation he joined the US Navy where he was a Engineman on the USS Avenge, MSO-423. Raymond married Mildred Gruntorad on August 1, 1960 in Deweese; They had 4 children. They amicably divorced in 1968. 

Raymond then married Patricia Carter on July 16, 1977. Patricia preceded him in death on March 3, 1997.

Raymond loved to fish, hunt, ride his motorcycle and fly romote airplanes. While indoors he enjoyed watching sports and western movies.

Raymond worked at Great Plains Packaging for many years until retirement. After retirement, his favirot pastime was sitting on his deck watching the birds and squirrels. Some of them even had names.

Raymond was preceded in death by Patricia Horacek (wife), Rogene & Butch Stephens (sister & brother inlaw), Jim Kimminau (brother in law) granddaughter Macy Carter, and his partents, Sarah and Edward Horacek.

SURVIVORS include his son, David Horacek (Patricia) of Flordia, daughters, Mary Ann LaFleur (Phil) of Colorado, Diana Sample (Ron) of Nebraska, Carol Shima (Stephen) of Colorado and Stepson, Gary Carter of Nebraska, sister Gail Kimminau of Nebraska, 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, other relavties and friends.

He will be missed dearly.
