Hastings resident, Raymond Louis Kort, 92, of Perkins Pavilion, died Thursday, September 13, 2007, at Perkins Pavilion.
Services will be Monday, September 17, 2007; 10:30 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Greg Volzke officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Saturday, September 15, 2007; 9am-9pm, Sunday, September 16, 2007; 1pm-9pm at the funeral home and Monday, September 17, 2007; 1 hr. prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church and School.
Mr. Kort was born July 30, 1915 in Adams county, near Blue Hill, Nebraska to Louis & Flora (Siebrass) Kort. He served in the United States Army during WWII from February 27, 1941 until June 23, 1945. On October 2, 1943, he married Alvera Meeske in Wisner, Nebraska and she preceded him in death on March 28, 2005. He farmed two miles north of Blue Hill and was custodian for Trinity Lutheran Church and School for 8 years. He also worked as an elevator operator for Dutton Lainson Company for several years before his retirement. He moved to Hastings in 1977. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, American Legion and a life member of the D.A.V.
Mr. Kort was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Alvera and a brother, Roy Kort, a sister, Dorothy Govier and a son-in-law, Larry Stutheit.
