Former Hastings resident, Renee Fitzke, died Tuesday, September 29, 2009 in Omaha, Nebraska.

Memorial service will be Saturday, October 10, 2009; 10:00 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Glenvil, Nebraska with Pastor Jeff Glawe officiating. Private family burial will be at a later date. No visitation or viewing. Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ovarian Cancer Research, Easter Seals Nebraska Agribility or Easter Seals Nebraska Alternative Financing Program.

Renee was born on December 24, 1964 in Hastings, Nebraska to Gary D. and Betty L. (Boyer) Fitzke and was raised in the Glenvil area. She graduated from Adams Central High School in 1983. In 1987 she received her BA in English from Hastings College. She earned her master's degree in English Education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 1993. Renee worked at the University of Nebraska Great Plains Veterinary Educational Center, Clay Center, Nebraska as an editorial assistant for five years. She was an English Instructor for Central Community College, Grand Island, Nebraska and Metropolitan Community College in Omaha, Nebraska. Renee worked at Easter Seals Nebraska in Hastings as an Administrative Assistant/Rural Rehabilitation Assistant and Program Support Manager from 1998-2004. After moving to Omaha, she worked as the Alternative Financing Program Director for the Easter Seals from 2004 to the present.

Renee was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Fitzke and grandparents, Edmund & Esther Fitzke and Elmer & Mildred Boyer.
