Hastings resident, Richard I. Barth, 93, died Friday, January 11, 2013 at College View Assisted Living & Memory Support, Hastings, Nebraska.
Services will be Wednesday, January 16, 2013; 11:00 A.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating.
Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings at 1:30 P.M. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Fund, the Heart Fund, or the Kidney Foundation. Visitation will be Monday, January 14, 2013; 5:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. and Tuesday, January 15, 2013; 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church on Wednesday.
Mr. Barth was born on October 16, 1919 to Henry & Anna (Reiber) Barth. He graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 1937. Richard and Lillian were married on October 16, 1941. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1941-1945 in the European Theatre. He was a letter carrier at the Hastings Post Office for 30 years. Mr. Barth was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the American Legion, National Association of Letter Carriers, and a lifetime member of the V.F.W.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lillian Barth; grandson, Brett Reed and three brothers, Roy Barth, Ray Barth and Milton Barth.
