Hastings resident, Richard "Dick" R. Fischer, 75, passed away Monday, December 17, 2012 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Thursday, December 20, 2012; 6:30 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 21, 2012; 2:00 P.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be Thursday, December 20, 2012; 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be given to the family.

Dick was born December 15, 1937 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Ervin & Loretta (Spaeth) Fischer. He graduated from Regis High School in Eau Claire, Wisconsin in 1955. Dick served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 until 1963 and the National Guard from 1984 until 1997 as a Supply Sergeant; he retired with 30 years of military service. He married Frances A. Shottenkirk on September 7, 1957 in Fairbury, Nebraska; she preceded him in death in August 2006. Dick and Frances moved to Hastings in 1977. He worked for the Production Credit Association, Board of Public Works, Standard Oil, Wheeler Farm Supply in Beatrice, Nebraska, Smith Center, Kansas, and in Hastings. Dick was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 11823 where he was Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator for the Fourth Degree, life member of Disabled American Veterans, and Adjutant for the American Legion.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Frances A. Fischer; son-in-law, Tim Thaut; brother, James Fischer; and niece, Trisha Fischer.
