Hastings resident, Richard A. Gerritsen, 75, of 105 Lakeside Dr., died Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at his home.
Rosary will be Wednesday, December 29, 2004; 7;00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, December 30, 2004; 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church with Father Ramon Decaen officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in Parkview Cemetery, all in Hastings, Nebraska.
Mr. Gerritsen was born June 20, 1929 to Henry & Christina (Gassel) Gerritsen in Aberdeen, South Dakota. He moved to Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 8 and has been a resident the majority of his life. He graduated from St. Cecilia's High School, St. Benedicts College in Atchinson, Kansas and St. Joseph Hospital School of Medical Technology, Nuclear Medicine Technology program at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska and the Randolph School of Real Estate. He married Marilyn Albers in Hastings, Nebraska. He was employed at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital for 34 years both in the laboratory and as supervisor of the Nuclear Medicine Department, which he designed and developed. He was a Real Estate Broker and owner of Gerritsen Auction and Realty and was associated with his son, Steven in Gerritsen Auction Service. He served in the Korean Conflict in Korea where he was awarded several service medals. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, St. Benedicts Alumni, Hastings Board of Realtors, National Society of Medical Technologist, St. Benedicts Oblates of Yankton, South Dakota and the Eagles Club.
Mr. Gerritsen was preceded in death by his parents.
