Hastings resident, Richard D. Hlavaty, 77, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Services will be Monday, March 22, 2010; 10:30 A.M. at Grace United Methodist Church, Hastings with Rev. Dr. Lee R. Wigert officiating. There will be a private family burial prior to the service in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Saturday, March 20, 2010; 1:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M.; and Sunday, March 21, 2010; 1:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. with family present from 1:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Grace United Methodist Church.
Richard was born August 3, 1932 in Hastings, Nebraska to Carl & Gertrude (Richards) Hlavaty. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1950. On May 31, 1957, he married Alma D. Mersch. She preceded him in death on August 20, 2007. On December 9, 1952, he entered the U.S. Army, and was honorable discharged on November 17, 1954. He worked for Western Land Roller for 35 years until his retirement. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alma D. Hlavaty; and nephew, Buddy Helsel.
