Hastings resident, Richard "Dick" H. Koehler, Sr., 79, passed away Monday, October 4, 2010 at his home.
A memorial service will be Saturday, October 23, 2010; 11:00 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Jim Loutzenhiser officiating. Burial with military rites will be held at a later date in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Omaha, Nebraska. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be given to the Parkinson Foundation.
Richard was born October 21, 1930 to Harold & Frances (Jozwick) Koehler in Washington Park, Illinois. He served in the Marine Corps from June 9, 1948 through June 8, 1952. He was stationed at the Naval Ammunition Depot in Hastings. In August 1950 he was sent to Korea where he served in four campaigns. He was discharged in June 1952 at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He worked for Burlington Northern Truck Lines and was transferred to Omaha in 1964 and he retired in 1985. He and his wife Shirley moved back to Hastings in 1993.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; son, Rusty; and sister, Mary.
