Richard L. Marquardt

Hastings resident Richard L. “Dick” Marquardt, 96, passed away Friday, October 20, 2023, at Harvard Rest Haven, Harvard, NE.   

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 25, at Butler Volland Chapel with Chaplain Lisa Ewald officiating. Burial with military rites by the Hastings Military Honor Guard will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. with family present 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, October 24, and one hour before the servicen at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Start Over Rover or Hastings DAV.

Dick was born December 23, 1926, to Jesse & Katherine (Niederhaus) Marquardt in Hastings, NE. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1944. After graduating high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in 1944-45 during WWII. Dick married Ardyce “Stub” Coplen on September 17, 1951: she preceded him in death on August 30, 1986. Dick was a parts salesman for Friend’s Motor Supply for over 40 years. He was a member of the VFW and Hastings Eagles Club #592.  He loved reading books, watching western movies, dancing, and spending time with his dog, Chipper. 

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ardyce L. Marquardt; son-in-law, Scott Sell; brother, Ronald Marquardt; and special companion, Betty Meyer.
