Richard "Rich" Mattison

Hastings resident Richard “Rich” Mattison, 57, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE. 

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 29, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Pastor Jeromie Rand officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. with the family present 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, August 28, and one hour before the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Rich was born October 2, 1966, in Freeman, SD to Wayne and Eileen (Miller) Mattison. He graduated from Clay Center High School in 1985 and attended the University of Nebreaska-Lincoln. Rich married Christy Haberer on June 3, 2006. He worked as an engineer for Wilson Case. Rich had his own band called the “Groovadelics” and was a member of the Good Guys Club. He had a generous heart of gold, a gentle soul, kind, compassionate, and humble. Rich was a fabulous self-taught guitar player. 

Rich was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dale; and parents-in-law, Chris and Joe Haberer.
