Richard Pieschke

Kearney resident, Richard T. Pieschke, 83, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015, at Welcov Assisted Living, Kearney, Nebraska.

Services will be Friday, January 9, 2015, 10:00 A.M. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Kearney, Nebraska, with Pastor Nate Seelow officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be Friday, January 9, 2015, 9:00 A.M. - 10:00 A.M. at the church. Suggested memorials may be given to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Kearney or Aseracare Hospice of Kearney.

Richard was born October 16, 1931, in Willow Lake, South Dakota, to Albert & Lily (Tolzien) Pieschke. He served in the U.S. Marines from 1952 until 1954. Richard married Eleanor Kuehl on March 16, 1954, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron, South Dakota. They lived in Rapid City, South Dakota, from 1954 until 1966 and moved to Blair, then Hastings, Nebraska, before settling in Kearney in 2013. Richard was a truck driver for many years and retired in 1988. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Hastings and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Kearney. He delivered Meals on Wheels for 14 years while living in Hastings. Richard and Eleanor enjoyed several years of traveling in the winter months, spending time with family, and playing cards.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald.
