Robert Augustin

Hastings resident, Robert D. 'Bob' Augustin, 74, of 201 Lakeside Dr. died Saturday, June 25, 2005 at his home.

Services will be Wednesday, June 29, 2005; 10:00 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Pastor Frank Kerkemeyer officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, both in Hastings, Nebraska.

Mr. Augustin was born August 30, 1930 in Grand Island, Nebraska to Arnold & Inez (Watson) Augustin. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1948 and attended Hastings College. He married Bettie M. Schreiner on July 30, 1950 in Hastings, Nebraska. During his life, he worked for his dad at Case Implement, Kerr Chevrolet, Ben Shermans, Grand Island Ammunition Depot and also farmed in the Doniphan area. In the early 1970's, Bob and Bettie opened up The Westerner, a western clothing store. He was a licensed realtor, member and past President of Hastings Realtors Association and an auctioneer. Bob was an avid quarter horseman and showed and judged many horse shows. Later on, he began racing and breeding thoroughbreds throughout Nebraska and Iowa. He was a charter member of Hastings Saddle Club and a member of Nebraska Thoroughbred Association. He worked with the 4-H horse clubs and was a member of Nebraska Breeders Association. He was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Mr. Augustin was preceded in death by his parents.
