Hastings resident, Robert "Bob" Earl Hansen, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at The Kensington Senior Living Center, Hastings, Nebraska.
Graveside services with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be Thursday, August 9, 2012; 10:30 A.M. at Juniata Cemetery, Juniata, Nebraska with Rev. Dr. Lee R. Wigert officiating. Memorials may be given to The Kensington. There will be no visitation as Robert was cremated.
Robert was born on March 5, 1927 in Hastings, Nebraska to Harry R. & Louise L. (Lanfear) Hansen. Robert lived in the Hastings area all his life. He graduated from Juniata High School in 1947 after leaving high school during his junior year to serve his country in the U.S. Army from December 7, 1945 until November 30, 1946. Upon returning home from his service in the U.S. Army, he returned to high school to attend his senior year. During his senior year of high school, he met his wife of 63 years, Alyce Louise Graham. Robert and Alyce were married on November 7, 1948 and were blessed with five children, Richard, Steven, Duane, Connie, and Susan. Robert was employed during his lifetime at Hastings Grain Bin Company, Central Tractor Supply, and Industrial Irrigation Company where he retired in 1992. Robert was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and men's bowling team at Pastime Lanes. Robert loved to water ski, fish, and roller skate when his children were young. During his later years, he developed a love for bowling where he bowled at Pastime Lanes for 35 years and worked there for 20 years.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Alyce L. Hansen; parents; one daughter; one son; two sisters; and four great-grandsons.
