Hastings resident, Robert W. Kentner I, 73, of Perkins Pavilion, died Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Services will be Tuesday, April 7, 2009; 4:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Pastor Lorri Kentner & Pastor Art Schakat officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be Monday, April 6, 2009; 3:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. with family present at Butler-Volland Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the family.
Mr. Kentner was born January 24, 1936 in Columbus, Ohio to William & Beatrice (Logan) Kentner. He graduated from Grandview Heights High School, Columbus, Ohio and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education from Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minnesota in 1979. He served in the United States Navy from October 19, 1954 - October 17, 1958 & October 23, 1961 - June 1, 1977 and was a United States Navy Musician. He married Verna Sedlak on June 13, 1959 in Marblehead, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on January 24, 2001. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Grandview, Missouri, NRA, American Banjo Fraternity and The Hymn Society. He moved from Grandview to Hastings, Nebraska in 2008.
Mr. Kentner was preceded in death by his wife, Verna and his parents.
