Former Hastings resident, Robert "Bob" F. Johnson, 87, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Good Samaritan Center, Olathe, Kansas.
Services will be Monday, February 20, 2017; 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Holstein, Nebraska with Pastor Lon Landsmann and Pastor Gary Werling officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Holstein, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to Lutheran Social Services, Omaha or Society for Autism. Visitation will be Saturday, February 18, 2017; 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M., Sunday, February 19, 2017; 1:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.
Bob was born December 15, 1929 in Adams County, Nebraska to Harm Jr. & Amelia (Plautz) Johnson. He graduated from Roseland High School. Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1952 during the Korean War. He married JoAnn Bush on February 25, 1951 at First Christian Church, Hastings; she preceded him in death on March 17, 2003.
Bob and JoAnn lived in Boulder, Colorado from 1964 to 1971 when they moved back to the family farm. Bob was a self employed crop and dairy farmer in the Ayr and Roseland area. They resided there until 1988 when they moved to Hastings. Bob worked in the maintenance department of Mary Lanning Healthcare from 1975 to 1995. Bob and JoAnn were custodians at Faith Lutheran Church in Hastings from 1995 to 2000. In 2000, Bob and JoAnn moved to Omaha to be near their children. Bob drove the bus for Waterford Assisted Living. Bob was a long time member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Holstein, Faith Lutheran Church in Hastings, and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Gretna, Nebraska. Bob was also a member of the American Legion in Holstein.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife, JoAnn Johnson; and sister, Ethel Lukow.
