Robert Laux

Hastings resident, Robert "Bob" D. Laux, 94, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017, at The Homestead, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Wednesday, May 24, 2017; 10:30 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Paul Dunbar officiating. Interment will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations. Memorials may be given to Faith Lutheran Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 23, 2017; 9:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. with family present 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Bob was born June 10, 1922, in Hastings, Nebraska to Lester and Evelyn (Hines) Laux. He was baptized on April 8, 1928, at First United Methodist Church in Hastings and confirmed in April 1946 at Zion Lutheran Church in Hastings. Bob graduated from Hastings High School in 1940. He married Arlene Schnase on September 25, 1943, in Miami, Florida. She preceded him in death on May 4, 2003.

Bob served in the U.S. Navy from September 14, 1942, to October 23, 1945 and lived in Boston, Massachusetts for one year during World War II. Bob farmed in the Hastings area from 1945 until retiring in 1987 and continued to manage the farm ground for many years. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Arlene Laux; twin sister, Bonnie Busboom; sisters, Charlene Warnke and Rogene Rainforth; and brother, Dale Laux.
