Robert Lorence

Hastings resident, Robert L. Lorence, 79, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Services will be Tuesday, February 9, 2010; 2:00 P.M. at Grace United Methodist Church, Hastings with Rev. Dr. Lee R. Wigert officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Monday, February 8, 2010; 5:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 9, 2010; 9:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. at Livingston-Butler-Volland Funeral Home, and 1 hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to the family; a memorial will be established at a later date.

Robert was born October 30, 1930 near Esbon, Kansas to Tony & Berniece (Crosier) Lorence. He graduated from Esbon High School, Esbon, Kansas in 1948. He was in the U.S. Army from January 13, 1951 to January 13, 1954 serving in Korea. On October 31, 1953 he married Shirley Lantis in Topeka, Kansas. He was a farmer in Esbon, Kansas. In 1965 they moved to Hastings where he worked for DeKalb Research and was an electrician for Terry's Electric and McClelland's Irrigation Engines. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Glenvil Legion, and V.F.W. #1346 of Hastings.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; son, Chuck Lorence; sister, Barbara Lorence; and two brothers, Gary Lorence & Doyle Lorence.
