Robert McCarthy

Hastings resident, Robert E. McCarthy, 76, of 1521 Highland Dr., died Friday, December 31, 2004 at St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center, Lincoln, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Tuesday, January 4, 2005; 7:30 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, January 5, 2005; 11:00 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Parkview Cemetery, all in Hastings, Nebraska.

Mr. McCarthy was born October 24, 1928 in Nebraska City, Nebraska to Florence H. & Marie (Svoboda) McCarthy. He graduated from Nebraska City High School and attended Peru State College, Peru, Nebraska. He served in the United States Navy from 1946 to1948. On September 16, 1950, he married Barbara C. Kreifels in Nebraska City, Nebraska. They moved from Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Hastings, Nebraska in 1974. He retired as Systems Operations Supervisor for the N.P.P.D. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Optimist Club and the Elks. He was a past volunteer fireman at Nebraska City and Scottsbluff.

Mr. McCarthy was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, John McCarthy and one sister, Mary McCarthy.
