Hastings resident, Robert E. "Gene" Moore, 87, passed away Monday, April 11, 2011 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.
Graveside services with military rites will be Thursday, April 14, 2011; 11:00 A.M. in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, with Pastor Tom Murray officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Boys Ranch in Alliance, Nebraska or Asera Care Hospice.
Gene was born May 6, 1923 in Mankato, Kansas to Robert & Daisy (Schuster) Moore. He graduated from Campbell High School and attended Hastings College for one year. On August 31, 1942 he entered the U.S. Navy, and was honorably discharged on December 10, 1945. On May 30, 1950 he married Aldean Thomsen. He worked in the maintenance department for the Nebraska Department of Roads until his retirement. He was a member of Eagles Aerie #592, American Legion, V.F.W., and "Danish Brotherhood".
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Taylor Myers; and one brother, Frank Lavern Moore.
