Robert L. "Bob" Sanders

Former Hastings resident Robert L. “Bob” Sanders, at the age of 91 years, 10 months, and 13 days, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Heritage Crossings, Geneva, NE. He was eager to “go home to Jacae.” 

Funeral services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran church in Ohiowa, NE, Saturday, March 22 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a luncheon at the Legion Hall downtown Ohiowa. We then invite everyone to join when leaving Ohiowa between 1 and 1:30 p.m. to Glenvil for the burial service at Glenvil Cemetery. Any memorials will go to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ohiowa, or to the family for future designation. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.lbvfh.com. Robert L. Sanders was born on April 22, 1933 on a farm near Glenvil, NE to Harry and Grace (Stromer) Sanders. Bob grew up in Adams, Clay, and Fillmore counties along with his sister, Joyce. 

Bob graduated from Geneva High School in 1950 and married Jaclynn (Haak) Sanders in 1952. The first eight years of their marriage, they moved 47 times as Bob worked road construction and as a mechanic for the construction machinery. In 1960, they moved to Ohiowa where Bob started his own repair shop and they raised their children: John, Debra, Mark (died in infancy), Robert, and Cheryl. 

In 2013, Bob and Jacae moved to Good Samaritan in Hastings, NE where they remained until Jacae's passing in 2017. In 2018, Bob moved to Heritage Crossings in Geneva, NE where he lived until his passing. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Grace Sanders; wife, Jacae; sons, John and Mark; daughter, Deb; brother-in-law, Dale Saum; and one great-great-grandchild. 

He is survived by his sister, Joyce Saum of Salina, KS; daughter-in-law, Brenda Sanders of Norton, KS; son, Rob (Penny) Sanders of Hastings, NE; daughter, Cheryl Price of Geneva, NE; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and many friends and extended family.
