Robert Shipman

Hastings resident, Robert "Bob" D. Shipman, 63, passed away Monday, September 16, 2013 at his home.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, September 21, 2013; 11:00 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Tony Dawson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to American Cancer Society. There will be no viewing or visitation. Book signing will be Thursday, September 19, 2013; 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M., Friday, September 20, 2013; 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. and one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

Bob was born April 4, 1950 in El Dorado, Kansas to Darrel & Sheila (Harsh) Shipman. He graduated from El Dorado High School and attended Butler County Community College. Bob served with the Kansas National Guard. He married Irene Wirt on November 27, 1992 in Hastings. Bob worked as a supervisor at Williams Pipeline and Texaco, worked maintenance at Hastings Head Start, and delivered Meals on Wheels.

Bob was preceded in death by his son, Jason Shipman; and brother-in-law, Jerry Smith.
