Robert Songster

Hastings resident, Robert "Bob" W. Songster, 80, passed away Friday, November 1, 2013 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, November 6, 2013; 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Hastings with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to Bob W. Songster Memorial Fund. Visitation will be Monday, November 4, 2013; 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. and Tuesday, November 5, 2013; 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, with family present on Tuesday. Viewing will also be one hour prior to service at the church on Wednesday.

Bob was born September 28, 1933 in Hastings, Nebraska to Harry R. & Buda Faye (Horton) Songster. He was a lifelong resident of Hastings and attended school here. He worked for Red & White Market, NAD and Cash-Wa Candy Company. He married Patricia Townsley in 1952 and later they divorced. In 1965 he married Donna Koch and she preceded him in death. On July 4, 1976 he married Patricia (Nowak) Hill and she preceded him in death. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and the Elks. Bob was also a very active member of Hastings Eagles Aerie 592, serving as its president twice and as Eagles State President in 2002. Bob was a good baseball player and avid Husker and Red Sox fan.

Bob W. Songster was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Donna (Koch) Songster, Patricia (Nowak) Songster; sister, Wanda Yeatman; brothers, Rex Songster, Harry Jr. Songster and grandson, Trent Baca.
