Robert Stamper

December 24, 1936 — March 5, 2009

Glenvil resident, Robert E. Stamper, 72, died Sunday, March 1, 2009 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Services will be Thursday, March 5, 2009; 2:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. Interment will be at a later date. Memorials may be given to the family.

Mr. Stamper was born December 24, 1936 in Walters, Oklahoma to Cecil & Kathleen (Belcher) Stamper. He was raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and married Margaret Gregor in 1957 and they later divorced. On September 9, 1974, he married Christine and they moved to Glenvil, Nebraska in 1976. He worked as an iron worker and later owned and operated the City Café & Tavern in Glenvil with his wife. He was the Mayor before becoming the Chief of Police in Glenvil. After retiring from law enforcement , he worked at Wal-Mart in Hastings. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and Fraternal Order of Police. He was a past member of the Eagles Club.

Mr. Stamper was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill, Manning, CV & Clyde and sisters, Gloria Jean Marsh & Jeanette Toone.

Sons: Clyde Stamper - Gatesville, TX
John Stamper - Gatesville, TX
Charlie Stamper - Moberly, MO
Grandchildren: 9
Great Grandchildren: 3
Brother: Larry Stamper - Bremerton, WA
