Robert G. "Bob" Tharp

Hastings resident Robert G. “Bob” Tharp, 80, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Providence Place, Hastings, NE.    

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 29, at Butler Volland Chapel with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. with family present 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, and one hour before the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Bob was born June 8, 1943, in Hastings, NE to Willard Harold and Hattie (Rothfuss) Tharp. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1961 and attended Hastings College. Bob married Jeanne Olsen on March 19, 1971; she preceded him in death on October 26, 1996. He married Shirley Allen on December 21, 2022.

Bob was an auto parts salesman for Sidles & Auto Value for 42 years. He was an original member of The Chapparals Motorcycle Club. Bob enjoyed music, ice cream, motorcycles, and fishing.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeanne Tharp; and sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn & Larry Fell.
