Robert Thaut

Hastings resident, Robert "Bob" D. Thaut, 84, died Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Mary Lanning HealthCare, in Hastings, NE.

Services will be Monday, March 11, 2013; 10:30 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel, in Hastings with Pastor Roy Peister officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be Saturday, March 9, 2013; 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M.; and Sunday, March 10, 2013; 1:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. with the family present from 3:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Visitation will also be one hour prior to service at the funeral home on Monday. Memorials may be given to the New York Avenue Congregational Church.

Bob was born February 1, 1929 in Hastings, Nebraska to Fred and Kathryn (Blum) Thaut. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1946. Bob served in the Army from 1950-1952. On April 11, 1970, he married Joan L. Brown in Hastings. Bob was in the auto-body repair business for over fifty years. He owned and operated Thaut's Body Shop from 1961-2007. Bob liked the outdoors, fishing, hunting and especially camping in the Black Hills. He also enjoyed traveling to visit family. Bob was a member of New York Avenue Congregational Church.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Fred Thaut, Jr. and Jim Thaut.
