Robert Trenchard, Sr

Hastings resident, Robert C. Trenchard, Sr. 90, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at Blue Hill Care Center, Blue Hill, Nebraska.

Memorial Service will be Friday, October 2, 2015; 11:00 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church, Hastings with Pastor Charles M. Webster officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church, Shriners Hospital Fund or Hastings Community Foundation. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Mr. Trenchard was born June 26, 1925 in Cambridge, Nebraska to J.W. Sr. & Genevieve (Fodrea) Trenchard. He graduated from Cambridge High School and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Nebraska, where he was a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity. He worked in the family business in Holdrege, Nebraska as an oil jobber and tire distributor. He was the past president of the Nebraska State Petroleum Marketers. On March 10, 1945, he married Elizabeth J. Nye in Arlington, Virginia; she preceded him in death on May 1, 2014. He served in the United States Navy from 1943 until 1946 as a Lt. J.G. aboard the USS Ericson. He moved to Hastings, Nebraska in 1969 from Holdrege. While in Hastings, he was a stock broker for First Mid America and Paine Weber. He was a past president of Kiwanis in Holdrege. His Masonic memberships were: Cambridge Blue Lodge #150, Hastings Scottish Bodies, Tehama Temple and Royal Order of the Jesters. He was a member of Lochland Country Club and Lochland SID Board. He was a past board member of the Hastings Symphony. He was active in the Presbyterian Church in Holdrege and Hastings serving as an Elder, Deacon and Trustee.

Mr. Trenchard was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Elizabeth J. Trenchard; grandson, Todd Trenchard; brother, John W. Trenchard Jr. and a sister Catherine Potter.
