Hastings resident Roberta F. Lloyd, 88, passed away Friday, December 8, 2023, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE.
Celebration of Life will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 19, at First Presbyterian Church in Hastings with Rev. Greg Allen-Pickett officiating. Private family interment will be held at a later date. A book signing will be held 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with the family present 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Monday, December 18, at the funeral home, and one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church, Irish Fellows at Hastings College, or Hastings Public Schools Foundation. Roberta was born August 7, 1935, in Kearney, NE to Howard and Tressie (Brennan) Case. She graduated from Kearney High School and attended Kearney State College where she received a Two Year Teaching Certificate. Roberta married Darrel W. Lloyd on August 29, 1954. After 65 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on November 28, 2019.
Roberta worked as a Kindergarten teacher in Arnold, NE before moving to Hastings. In Hastings, she worked as a paraprofessional at Hawthorne Elementary School until her retirement in 2000. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the YWCA where she enjoyed clogging and exercise classes. She actively attended, supported, and participated in activities and events at Hastings College.
Throughout her life, Roberta was a dedicated, caring, and supportive wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma. She was also an avid reader and adventurer. Roberta and Darrel shared a passion for travel. Together, they traveled to 42 countries and crisscrossed the United States creating a tapestry of shared experiences and cherished moments. They also organized and led many community and college groups on overseas trips.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darrel W. Lloyd; and sister, Pat Sintek.
