Robert "Bob" VanLaningham, 67, Inland, died Thursday, April 14, 2005, at his home. He was born July 20, 1937, in Beatrice, to Robert and Rose (Badgley) VanLaningham. He graduated from high school and served in the U.S. Air Force from Feb. 2, 1956, until his discharge on Feb. 1, 1960. He was baptized at Palmcroft Baptist Church in Phoenix, Ariz., in 1957. On Aug. 1, 1958, he married Jane Reemtsma in George, Iowa. He was an electrician for Smitty's Electric for five years and for 28 and a half years at Hastings College, retiring in 1997. He attended Berean Bible Church.
Survivors: wife, Jane; sons, Rudy VanLaningham and wife Lynda of Doniphan, Wade VanLaningham of Henderson; daughter, Sherry Brinkman and husband Bud of Wilber; two grandsons; two stepgranddaughters; one stepgreat-granddaughter; mother, Rose or Clatonia; sisters, Norma McLemore of Clatonia, Joan Neunaber of Rapid City, S.D.; brother, Dennis VanLaningham of Clatonia. He was preceded in death by his father and a daughter-in-law.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, Berean Bible Church, pastor Paul Knoll officiating. Burial with military rites will be at Inland Cemetery. Visitation: 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, 1 p.m.-9 p.m. Sunday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday with family present from 7 p.m.-9 p.m., at the Butler-Volland Funeral Home, Hastings; and one hour prior to service at the church on Tuesday. Memorial: to the family.
