Hastings resident, Roderick D. "Rick" Waltemath, Sr., 71, passed away July 8, 2016 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.
Services will be Wednesday, July 13, 2016; 10:30 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church, Hastings with Pastor Don Canady officiating. Rick would appreciate casual attire, especially Levi's and plaid shirts. Private family burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 12, 2016; 1:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. with family present 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.
Rick was born September 15, 1944 in Hastings, Nebraska to Frederick & Lola (Toews) Waltemath. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1962 and received his Associates Degree from Central Community College in Hastings. Rick served in the U.S. Navy from September 11, 1962 until July 12, 1966. He married Phyllis Fishell on November 14, 1963.
Rick was employed as a manufacturing engineer at Western Land Roller, Midwest Industrial Tool, and T-L Irrigation. He is a member of First Presbyterian Church, Boy Scout Troop #200, NRA, and Society of Manufacturing Engineers. Rick is a life member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans; member of Vietnam Veterans Memorial, U.S.O., United States Navy Memorial, and U.S. Naval Institute.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kim Waltemath.
