Former Hastings resident, Rodney Duane 'Bill' Eldred, Jr., 85, of Lincoln, Nebraska, died Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at Bryan LGH Medical Center West, Lincoln, Nebraska.
Services will be Saturday, January 10, 2004; 10:00 A.M. at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Hastings, Nebraska with Rev. Judith Allen and Rev. Dr. Dennis Patience officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Mr. Eldred was born November 29, 1918 in Antioch, Nebraska to Rodney & Inez (Fellows) Eldred. He moved to Hastings, Nebraska after graduating from Kearney High School, Kearney, Nebraska. He married Dorothy Mae Stephenson on December 14, 1940 and she preceded him in death on September 15, 2003. He served in WWII as a staff sergeant in the 610th Medical Clearing Company Separate. After being self-employed for many years, he joined T-L Irrigation in 1969 until his retirement. They moved to Lincoln, Nebraska in April, 2003, due to health reasons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Dorothy Mae, one brother, two sisters and one grandchild.
