Hastings resident, Rodney Neil Page, 85, passed away Friday, February 14, 2014, at his home in Hastings.
Services with Masonic memorial tribute by Hastings Lodge #50 A.F. & A.M. will be Friday, February 21, 2014; 10:30 A.M. at First United Methodist Church, Hastings with Pastor Tony Dawson officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will be Friday, February 21, 2014; 3:30 P.M. in Greenwood Cemetery, Lexington Nebraska. Visitation will be Thursday, February 20, 2014; 1:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. with family present 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church for missions and to the Tehama Temple Transportation Fund for patients traveling to the Shrine Hospital, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Rodney Neil Page was born to Garnet and Frankie (Gregory) Page April 7, 1928 in the family farm house northwest of Lexington, Nebraska. On April 9, 1939, age 11, he joined the Methodist church and has been a member his entire life. He attended District 22 Country School and graduated from Lexington Senior High School. In 1946 he enrolled at the University of Nebraska, College of Agriculture. After one year he joined in partnership with his father and brother in Page Land and Cattle. On June 20, 1948 he married Donna Yates whom he met while attending college. They took up residence in the family farm house where he was born. In 1956 he left farming and was employed in farm machinery sales until he retired in 1991, traveling Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, Minnesota and Georgia. Rod served in the National Guard during the Korean War. He was very proud to be a citizen of the USA. Rod was a 60 year member of the Masons, 33rd Degree Scottish Rite, York Rite member, Past Potentate of Tehama Temple in 1996, member Eastern Star-Acacia Chapter, and Lifetime Member-Nebraska Alumni Association. He was a member of the Elks Chapter 159, UCT, Good Sam Camping group, Tehama Mobile Nobles and State Good Sam.
Rodney was preceded in death by hisparents, brother Ellsworth, and sisters Olive Belle and Harriet.
