Roger Brand

Hastings resident, Roger L. Brand, 66, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2012 at his home.

Memorial Services will be Thursday, April 5, 2012; 10:30 A.M. at First Christian Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Rev. Dr. James W. Gordon officiating. Private Family Burial will be in Elwood Cemetery, Elwood, Nebraska at a later date. Book Signing will be Tuesday, April 3, 2012; 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 4, 2012; 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established.

Roger was born May 25, 1945 in Lexington, Nebraska to Ralph and Velma (Taylor) Brand. He graduated from Cozad High School in 1963 and attended Central Community College in Hastings. Roger served in the United States Army from September 8, 1966 - June 30, 1969. After his honorable discharge from the military, he worked for Great Plains Container Packaging from 1973 until 1991. Roger married Patricia Nelson on April 26, 1980 at Grace United Methodist Church, Hastings, Nebraska. In 1991 Roger went to work for the Hastings Utilities in the water department. He was a member of First Christian Church, loved to fish, hunt and was a member of the NRA.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Deanna Brand; mother-in-law, Lois Nelson; and brother-in-law, Dean Knoedler.
