Hastings resident, Roger A. Gartner, 73, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2011 at his home.
Private family services and burial will be held at a later date in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be given to Crossroads Center Rescue Mission.
Roger was born November 3, 1937 in Roseland, Nebraska to Charles & Sylvia (Wehnes) Gartner. He graduated from Roseland High School and then attended Central Community College in Hastings where he received his state and federal certification as a welder. On September 13, 1955 he entered the U.S. Army and was with the 101st Airborne Division; he was honorably discharged on April 1, 1958. On January 31, 1963 he married Donna K. Fox. Roger worked for K-N Gas. He was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Eagles Aerie #592. He loved his family and enjoyed working with his hands and tools.
Roger was preceded in death by his father.
