Roger Rader

Hastings resident, Roger E. Rader, 61, of 838 North Burlington, died Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at his home.

Services will be Saturday, February 14, 2009; 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Glenvil with Pastor Renee Johnson and Pastor Dale Phillips officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Churchyard Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, February 12, 2009; 5:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. & Friday, February 13, 2009; 9:00 A.M.- 9:00 P.M. with family present from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family.

Roger was born April 3, 1947 in Hastings, Nebraska to Burton & Freda (McCormick) Rader. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1965 and served in the United States Navy from 1965-1969. After his discharge, he joined the family business of Rader Real Estate and Insurance Company. On June 2, 1972, he married LaDonna Anders at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Glenvil. Together they raised two daughters, Kimberly Rader Krueger and Krystal Rader Hrbek. He received his real estate license in 1974 and his brokerage license shortly thereafter. Upon his parent's retirement, he continued on with Rader Real Estate. Roger enjoyed participating in the Hastings Community Theatre and was an avid golfer. He was involved in Walk to Emmaus for 24 years. He served as the first Chairman of Nebraska Sertoma's 8 Man All Star Football. He spent many of his summers at Harlan County reservoir at the family cabin, enjoying fishing and relaxing with his family. He also loved to spend as much time as possible spoiling his seven grandchildren. He helped organize a cancer support group at the Morrison Cancer Center in Hastings, Nebraska. He served in numerous offices and received many honors from the Board of Realtors and taught Pre-Licensing Real Estate at the Hastings Central Community College.

Mr. Rader was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Duane Schroeder.
