Rolland Brooks

Juniata resident, Rolland Gene Brooks, 75, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2012 at his home.

Rolland was born June 21, 1937 in Edgar, Nebraska to Harry & Gladys (Beck) Brooks. After high school graduation he served with the U.S. Army for 20 years stationed at various bases in the United States and around the world. Rolland married Novella Andersen on August 30, 1959 at Juniata Community Church, Juniata, Nebraska. Rolland moved to Juniata in 1976 from Germany. He worked as a computer data processer, worked for Hastings Utilities and after retiring from Hastings Utilities he graduated from Southeast Community College Truck Driving School on the Lincoln Campus. He worked as a truck driver for various companies, school bus driver for District #29 Juniata/Wallace/Adams Central, and drove the Adams County Senior Services Handi Bus. Rolland was a member of Juniata Community Church, American Legion in Juniata, and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Hastings. His church family was very important to him and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family, doing yard work and gardening, fishing and camping. Throughout his life Rolland volunteered his time as a youth sports coach for baseball and was a Boy Scout Master.
