Rolland George

Juniata resident, Rolland E. George, 81, died Friday, July 13, 2012 at Mary Lanning HealthCare, Hastings, Nebraska.Services will be Tuesday, July 17, 2012; 10:30 A.M. at Juniata United Methodist Church, Juniata, Nebraska with Pastor Jim Miller officiating. Burial with military rites will be at Juniata Cemetery, Juniata, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to Juniata United Methodist Church or Juniata American Legion. Visitation will be Monday, July 16, 2012; 4 P.M. until 9 P.M. with family present at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Rolland was born August 8, 1930 to John E. & Olga (Peterson) George in Gresham, Nebraska. He received his education in Gresham and graduated from Gresham High School in 1947. He served in the Army from February 19, 1953 to February 9, 1955 and was in Korea. Rolland married Betty J. Shaw on August 21, 1960 in Ansley, Nebraska. He and Betty moved to Juniata in 1963 from Ansley. He was a member of the VFW, Juniata United Methodist Church and a lifelong member of Juniata American Legion Post #365. Rolland built miniature farm buildings, equipment and windmills used as lawn ornaments. He also restored antique hand plows. Rolland E. George was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, and brothers, Raymond George, Tom George and Arnold George.
