She was born on August 8, 1928 to Russell and Musa Turner Brown at Trumbull (at home).
Roma graduated from Trumbull High School in 1945 and from Hastings College with a B.A. Degree and majors in Mathematics and Chemistry in 1950. She earned an MS Degree in Medical Technology at Temple University in Philadelphia in 1974.

A career highlight was to be called by Senator Phillip Hart to testify on the problem of the high cost of hospitalization in 1970. Roma's special interests included lettering in four sports at Hastings College and ice dance skating. She was an avid fan of the Cornhuskers plus the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies.
