Hastings resident, Ronald L. Gardner, 51, of 2510 Boyce, died Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at his home.
Services will be Saturday, April 8, 2006; 10:00 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church with Rev. Carl H. Rehwaldt officiating. Burial with F.O.P. rites will be in Parkview Cemetery, both in Hastings, Nebraska.
Ron was born July 15, 1954 in Hastings, Nebraska to Lindy & Dorothy (Albers) Gardner. He graduated from Franklin High School, Franklin, Nebraska in 1972 and from Central Community College in Hastings, Nebraska. On September 20, 1974, he married Linda R. Dyer at the Franklin Methodist Church, Franklin, Nebraska. He was a salesman for Moorman Manufacturing Company from 1975-1990. He was an EMT & Fireman with Franklin & Bloomington Fire Departments and organized the first Responder Unit in Franklin County. He moved from Bloomington, Nebraska to Hastings in 1990. On June 1, 1990, he became a policeman for the City of Hastings and graduated from Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center,106th Basic in Grand Island, Nebraska on March 29, 1991 He was a Drug & Criminal Investigator since 1995 with duties as a patrol officer. In 1995, he was the Hastings Rotary Police Officer of the year. He was commended in 1999 for his leadership in 'Operation Castro' in which nine drug dealers were arrested. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, F.O.P. #9 and the Four Rivers Sportsman Club.
Mr. Gardner was preceded in death by his parents.
