Ronald Michalek

Hastings resident Ronald D. Michalek, 72, passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.

Visitation will be Friday, October 10, 2014; 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hastings with family present. Rosary will be Friday at 7:00 P.M. at the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, October 11, 2014; 10:30 A.M. at the church with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Private family burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Hastings Catholic Schools, St. Michael's Catholic Church, or the donor's choice.

Ron was born on December 3, 1941 to Daniel and Delphine (Tesmer) Michalek in Elba, Nebraska. He attended school and graduated from Loup City High School in 1960. Ron married Delores Janulewicz on August 12, 1961 in Loup City. He attended Colorado Institute of Technology in Denver, Colorado for two years. In 1969 he began working for Dutton-Lainson Company in Hastings, Nebraska and retired in 2000 as a Vice President. Ron was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus #1123, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Pius XII Assembly, past member and president of Hastings Morning Kiwanis Club, and a member of Lochland Country Club. He will be remembered for his strong Catholic faith, love of family, constant examples of service to others, and love of woodworking and golf.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Marge Michalek.
