Former Hastings, Nebraska resident, Ronald Harmon Pfeil, 64, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, died Sunday, December 1, 2013 in Moorestown, New Jersey after a long illness.
Services will be Saturday, December 7, 2013; 2:00 P.M. at Peace Lutheran Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Rev. Marcus J. Mackay officiating. Burial will be in Concordia Cemetery, rural Juniata, Nebraska. There will be a memorial service at First Presbyterian Church, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at a later date. Memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Visitation will be Friday, December 6, 2013; 1:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
Ronald was born in Hastings, Nebraska, graduated from Hastings High School and subsequently Harvard College. He was a development officer for Harvard University, then for the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He later became a development officer for the Fox Chase Cancer Center, then the Philadelphia Orchestra, and completed his fund raising career as a consultant for Van Ness and Associates, all in Philadelphia. Ronald was for many years a judge of the elections, an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia and an avid gardener.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Creigh), a son, Thomas of Chicago, a daughter, Eliza Savage (Patrick) of Bensalem, PA, three grandchildren (Logan, Falyn and Kennedy Savage), his mother, Ruth Pfeil and his sister, Jane Maehr (Martin), both of Ann Arbor, Michigan.
