Hastings resident, Ronald "Ron" Neil Veburg, 86, passed away Friday, April 22, 2016 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.
Services will be Friday, April 29, 2016; 10:30 A.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. A luncheon will be provided immediately following the service. Burial will be in Hordville Cemetery, Hordville, Nebraska at 1:30 P.M. Visitation will be Thursday, April 28, 2016; 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. with family present from 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to First St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Nebraska Children's Home.
Ron was born April 20, 1930 in Hordville, Nebraska to John & Emily (Bengston) Veburg. He graduated from Hordville High School and received his Bachelor's Degree from Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois and Master's Degree from University of Northern Colorado. Ron married Darlene B. Prante on October 4, 1959; she preceded him in death on April 8, 2016. He taught for seven years at St. Paul Public Schools and 34 years at Hastings High School; he retired in 1992. Ron was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was involved as a lay reader, worship assistant, and was a 50 year member of Chancel Choir. He was a member of Kiwanis Club, Hastings Retired Teachers Association, and Phi Delta Kappa. Ron volunteered with numerous youth committees, Hastings Community Concert Association also helping in Grand Island, Hastings Public Library and was a Kool Aid Days volunteer.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Darlene B. Veburg; and siblings, Marie Clayton, Agnes Anderson, Richard Veburg, and Conrad Veburg.
