Hastings resident, Ronnie L. Fairchild, 56, of 410 East 7th, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Services will be Friday, March 11, 2005; 10:00 A.M. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Earl Higgins officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Vermillion Cemetery, Vermillion, Kansas, Friday, March 11, 2005; 4:00 P.M. with Rev. Virgil Warren officiating.
Mr. Fairchild was born December 10, 1948 in Frankfort, Kansas to Richard & Nellie (Hidy) Fairchild. He graduated from Frankfort High School and served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from June 3, 1968 to March 31, 1970 he then joined the Army and was active from March 5, 1975 to March 2, 1979. He continued his military service for 20 years in the Army reserves. He moved to Hastings from Grand Island 32 years ago. He worked for Hastings Utilities at the Energy Center. On March 24, 1990, he married Wanda Musil. He was a member of American Veteran #15, D.A.V. NE 9, V.F.W. Post #1347, American Legion #53, Navy Seabee's of America and KHE SANH Veterans. Ron was a brother to all Vietnam Veterans.
Mr. Fairchild was preceded in death by his parents, two half sisters and 3 half brothers.
